What's your least favorite?
With a website full of pelli ratings, star wish lists, and likes, it's fairly easy to figure out what hikes people like to hike the most.
But what are some of your least favorites, and why?

Re: What's your least favorite?
Ok, I'll start!
(sorry, I had to do some work thing for a minute and trekkin posted first!)
Pima Canyon Trail. It's just flat and boring. Devoid of any scenic views, drab desert, and often crowded.
Siphon Draw Trail 53. I've always hated this approach. These days parking options are a pain, the trail is horribly overused, and it ends before the real fun begins.
Second Water Trail 236. I think I've just done this one too many times. It's a necessary means to an end.

Re: What's your least favorite?
I put them out of mind so now I don't remember.
But if I have to pick a couple, I'd choose Camelback Mountain (Echo Canyon Trail) and Piestewa Peak, Summit Trail. It seems I end up on both about once a year. This year it was last Saturday for both. They're just way to busy for my taste.

I do my best to avoid having to use Desert Classic. Or any trail frequented by bikers.
Stop crying and just go do the hike.

Re: What's your least favorite?
It's been over 30 years since I climbed Camelback, so I guess that rates it pretty low and the sidewalk hike to my Proctologist would rate a close second.

I second Linda's Desert Classic...Way worse than Los Lomitas....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"

I didn't enjoy Towel Creek, up on the Verde, in January of 2007. That is the only thing that stands out. Otherwise, if it sucks, I forget about it.

Re: What's your least favorite?
For me it's just part of a trail: the stretch of Bluff Springs Trail from Barks Canyon to the Peralta TH. It's been the last leg of too many long days, especially when it unseasonably hot.

@big_load
interesting, I choose the Bluff roller coaster vs returning through monotonous Barkley Basin if possible
which is charming sunrise and sunset, then again Butterfly Peak under a full moon or monsoon sunrise from Los Lomitas is dandy

Re: What's your least favorite?
I always do, too. I love how it looks, but I guess was too tired one too many times. I've had that feeling about other trails and eventually got over it. I had to take a break from the long, winding stretch of Reavis from the north TH to Windy Saddle, and also the trail into Powers Garden. I probably won't revisit Tule TH to Two Bar Ridge for a while. Those are all hikes I enjoyed a lot but did too many times.joebartels wrote:interesting, I choose the Bluff roller coaster vs returning through monotonous Barkley Basin if possible

Re: What's your least favorite?
I would say almost any trail at Estrella Regional Mountain Park, especially the Pederson Trail. Not bad trails for running, but pretty darn boring for hiking.

Re: What's your least favorite?
Most of the trails around the Phoenix preserve, for a few reasons. First, the nearly constant sound of traffic. Second, seems like the bikers who ride there are more aggressive than other parks. Third, the geology seems kind of ugly, just very grey rock, little vegetation or soil. And some of the "trails" end up as routes along sidewalks through neighborhoods.

Re: What's your least favorite?
Since I do not hike on trails very much I do not have a least favorite. Some would say my recent hikes have mucho boring photography, but I like the desolation of the desert I believe moreso than the forested areas. I do like areas with water and rock, but rock wins out for me.

Re: What's your least favorite?
I have no idea what my least favorite hike will be... my least favorite would be the only hike I didn't return from.
So far so good.
Speaking for Tracey (without her knowledge but I'm sure she'd agree), she would likely point out a hundred least favorites... pretty much anything involving fox-tails, cat's-claw, thick brush, cholla fields, steep terrain with loose pea-gravel, etc., which describes many of my off-trail jaunts.
