I was wondering if any one has used the Cottonwood Canyon Road between 89 and Cannonville UT. recently?
What condition is it in?

@georgesteel
2 years ago. I drove only as far as Grosvenor Arch. It was a well-graded dirt road.

This is a link to the Grand Staircase Escalante Rod Conditions Report which is sporadically updated. https://www.nps.gov/glca/learn/news/roa ... ions.htm Just note that they routinely overestimate the difficulty of road conditions.
I've driven it end to end numerous times. Cottonwood is well maintained and passable by 2WD with moderate clearance unless there has been significant recent rain. Currently it is passable. It's a very pleasant drive and a great short cut.

@azbackpackr
Thanks for the info. Your photo reminds us of the first time we went down the road in 1997 in a Ford Escort and met a herd.
@AZWanderingBear
We will check at Big Water visitor centre before trying it as we have ended up with a Two wheel drive Ford Edge.
Many Thanks for the replies.

Update on Cottonwood Canyon road (400)
Really good recently graded, passed at least three saloon cars on the road.
BLM have it as 2WD HC sandy at north end.
