Reavis Ranch Trailhead
Anyone know if the Apache Trail is open to this northern trailhead? Was wanting to get to Reavis Falls. Thanks.

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Re: Reavis Ranch Trailhead
Unlikely anyone will utilize but...
SR88(Apache Trail) closes just after FR79. From the Apache Lake Vista pullout it is a steady 0.85 mi / 900 ft off trail hike to the trailhead

@joebartels
I mapped that out a while back. It's a lot better on paper than on foot!

@chumley @joebartels
Yup I have looked down from the road there several times and would want nothing to do with that 900 foot line...

Re: Reavis Ranch Trailhead
What about from the other side by Apache Lake?? Looking at a topo there is a couple of drainages that head that way (SW). Since Apache trail won't open for awhile maybe it's time to find an alternate route. Expedition team????

Re: Reavis Ranch Trailhead
Thanks for the feedback. Adding that climb to an already tough hike would seem......fun? Or maybe not. But it's a way! There does appear to be a drainage south of fr250 that leads to the trailhead.....bushwacky probably....

Re: Reavis Ranch Trailhead
It's within the burn area, so it might just be a muddy mess of bare hillside now. [ Woodbury Fire Perimeter :: map ]

Re: Reavis Ranch Trailhead
That's what is being discussed unless I'm missing something.GarthNewby wrote:What about from the other side by Apache Lake??
I added...
- the closed portion of SR88
- the cleanest satellite shortcut and such
Zoomed in to [ Reavis Trailhead :: map ]
Don't doubt the shortcut is hell even though it looks good on satellite. Pretty sure many have come home realizing their best photo of the day from that trailhead was the morning sunrise over Apache Lake. Which I mention cause it never felt like an easy 2 miles to the lake looking down.
Other access ideas
Could bike the 4.6 miles if it's not muddy. Remember to stash the bike and NOT ride the smooth old road grade to Reavis through the wilderness!

@joebartels
Did that, from Tortilla Flat and to Reevis Ranch and back; before it had wilderness status.

Re: Reavis Ranch Trailhead
What condition is the road from 88 to the trail head?
With the water damage is that road even open to bicycles?

Re: Reavis Ranch Trailhead
The gate is closed at Tortilla Flats with a sign on it that says no trespassing. Guess you can't even walk the road if you wanted to. There is some truck activity going in and out though so I guess I understand the no Trespass until it's cleaned up.
A few days ago there was even someone manning the gate due to high truck traffic.
