Weatherford Canyon Loop, AZ :: Question by Purnami
Hi this hike shows some water...Usually I prefer that, but my puppy just got giardia from the creek on Fred Haute trail & I cannot let him get near any water, tho I prefer to let him off leash...he is a good boy
. I would appreciate any information. Thanks

...so what's your question? There likely won't be water and you should keep your dog on a leash anyway.

@Purnami This is within the burn area of the recent Pipeline Fire and is under a closure order until October 31, 2022.
Closure Order: https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/coconino ... ?aid=73615
Regardless, the only water you'd ever find here would be during ongoing rain or snowmelt.

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

@chumley
Shoot. Thank you. Any suggestions on relatively easy non-popular hike near Flag? I am going with a friend who has an older dog, so we're thinking under 5 miles & I need to keep my pup away from any possible giardia from water. I came up with that hike by using the finder on website.

@ddgrunning
The website text doesn't match the actual forest order, which states the closure extends until 10/31.

This is currently subject to the Stage 3 Walnut Canyon closure, which I haven't found that they've rescinded, but the FS website is badly organized.ddgrunning wrote: ↑Jun 29 2022 6:26 pm @Purnami
