I am putting out the word on a thru-hike of the Arizona Trail I am planning for next Spring. I would am considering finding someone who is interested in hiking either all or part of the trail with me. I am looking to pack light and travel fast.
I plan on leaving around March 15th and travelling on average 20 miles per day. With this pace I am looking at about 39 to 40 days out on the trail. If you are interested in hiking or can lend any advice I would appreciate it!

Re: Arizona Trail 2008
Hopefully they will be done with this by then but you know how it goes sometime.....
KAIBAB N.F. CLOSES ARIZONA TRAIL IN WARM FIRE AREA
FREDONIA, Ariz. —Acting Kaibab National Forest Supervisor Dave Mertz has issued a closure order for the section of the Arizona Trail between Murrays Lake to the north and Crane Lake to the south.
Mertz ordered the closure to ensure public safety. Many trees along that section of the Arizona Trail were burned by last summer’s Warm Fire, and are a threat to fall across the trail.
The number of trees and the high likelihood of them falling create a significant hazard for hikers and campers in the area.
The closure is effective immediately and expected to last through the 2007 visitor season.
The Kaibab National Forest is developing a project that will remove hazard trees from along Forest Service roads and trails in the Warm Fire area. The project is expected to be ready for implementation this summer or fall.
The sections of the Arizona Trail from the northern district boundary to Murrays Lake and from Crane Lake to the southern district boundary remain open.

Re: Arizona Trail 2008
I'm planning on the same thing as well, however I gotta wait til I graduate from ASU to tackle something like the AZT
No man should go through life without once experiencing healthy, even bored solitude in the wilderness, finding himself depending solely on himself and thereby learning his true and hidden strength
