I'm leaving tomorrow morning for Flagstaff for 2 days with my wife and kids. we're considering going up to Lockett meadow and spend part of thursday. my wife and I did the Basin trail 4 years ago so its kind of foggy. My question:
Can a jogger stroller make it up from Lockett Meadow to the service road? Its about 1.5 miles I believe. I can handle the pushing, I'm thinking that each one of us carrying our kids would be a big pain. once we get to the service road, we should be ok, i'm just wondering if the trail from Lockett meadow to that road is wide enough (and level enough).
I know its late, but if anyone can offer any feedback by tomorrow morning it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Inner basin trail question
maybe
It's not hard packed and cleared but it is a road itself.
Not sure on pushing but maybe pulling?
Imagine it'd be a bumpy ride.
Sorry, I don't have the kid awareness radar on like a parent. I did see young kids there on my two visits, but don't recall any strollers.

Re: Inner basin trail question
When my wife and I did it 4 years ago, we saw another couple with a 6 month old in a baby backpack. our kids are 1 and 3, and both weigh 30+ lbs. It might be a little bumpy for them, but I'm sure they can handle it. I know I can handle the pushing more than my wife can handle the carrying. this stroller has the big wide wheels, so it shouldnt be too bad. If it is a road, then I'm sure we can handle getting them up to the service road, which I remember as being pretty smooth (as compared to a trail).
Thanks for the quick response, Joe. You still considering Saturday for the Superstition Heat Deathmarch Hike?

Re: Inner basin trail question
just looked through a bazillion photos on the Inner Basin page
it's definitely a decent looking road, albeit some scattered rock but not too bad looking
probably doable
Haven't ruled out Saturday yet!
Have fun tomorrow with the family!
everybody else too!, the 4th is a grand ol' holiday!

You are THE MAN Joe! The jogger stroller is in the Xterra right now. If you make it on Sat., I would be honored to buy you a beer at Tortilla Flat afterwards (or whatever else if you don't drink) for all your work on this site.
