We recently got lost going from Boulder Saddle to Fremont Saddle. We followed the cairns but ended up too high to get to the Peralta Trail. We could see Weaver's Needle and the trail but could not get down to it, nor could we find Fremont Saddle. We had to backtrack back to the West Boulder Saddle Trail
Any ideas where we went wrong. It was a beautiful hike, but would have been much better could we have made the entire loop

That area has a multitude of side trails and excess cairns, some of which were probably erected by people marking their own way when off the primary trail. Successfully reading the topology is the best way to stay found around there.

Probably somebody out playing "Compass, rock, let's get lost"

There may be a 10-15 ft wall on my red route but it's not difficult.

Re: Daysite Trail from Boulder Saddle to Fremont Saddle
The one time I did the Dacite Super loop I ended up just about straight west of Weaver's Needle following cairns. It's best not to follow them up there, follow your compass instead. The way down to Fremont Saddle I took was pretty darn steep.

Re: Daysite Trail from Boulder Saddle to Fremont Saddle
Some of those trails seem to have been blazed by people who followed the wrong set of cairns and found themselves practically cliffed out.nonot wrote: The way down to Fremont Saddle I took was pretty darn steep.
