Pine Canyon Trail #26 Sunday May 30

Post by DarthStiller »

This one should be pretty difficult, making the day off on Monday very necessary. Starting at the Pine TH and hiking all the way up to the Rim and back down. 15-16 miles RT (depending on what you read), 1900' AEG. Leaving Mesa at 5:30am. : rambo :

I think so. Someone else will jump on and verify, but I think it is. Here's an old news report:

It's not a difficult hike. Going up the creek all the way is better too http://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=578

This one is likely to get cancelled, kids. I separated my shoulder today at work, making carrying a full backpack a thing of the not near future. I have a doctor appt. Fri. morning, so I'll be able to give a more solid assessment after that, but right now it ain't lookin' too good. :sorrry:

at the stat clinic, they said wear a sling for 3 weeks, but we'll see what the ortho says. If i can numb it up enough with Vitamin I, I'll give a try, being as stubborn as I am. I'm still trying to convince my wife to still go this sunday if her and the kids can carry some of their own water and food on a 4 mile hike. Its just the weight on the joint from a full pack that's gonna be the only issue for me.

All right, sportsfans who are on the interested list, what about some alternatives? Parker Creek to Aztec Peak loop?

Stiller, this is where, for a day hike, maybe you should have a great big old fanny pack with two water bottle holders. I hate the things myself, they hurt my back, but hubby loves belts with things hanging off them.

Just an idea, in case it lasts for longer than you anticipate. Wouldn't want to have to stop hiking!

Hope it heals fast, though!

I'd prefer to have a sherpa, but it's not a perfect world. we'll see what the doc says on friday in terms of treatment, therapy, time off, etc.

I heard that the Stiller was doing his "Terry Tate: Office Linebacker" impression.
I'll give the Stiller a few days to heal up before I post an alternative hike. There's no way we can't have a HikeArizona.COM hike on that Sunday.
We could do this hike on the 30th, but I think it would be better to wait until the Stiller can do it since he posted the event.

@nonot

Actually, at Preston's suggestion, I used duct tape as moleskin on my heel for my last hike. Worked like magic. might be worth a try on my shoulder. I'll see what the ortho says tomorrow, first.
