Hey Hazers,
It's that time again.
Let's hear some of your Hazolutions for 2012.
I am going to try and get out and hike with some more Haz hikers that I haven't hiked with and some more with the old ones too! I also want to do lots of hikes I haven't done yet. Oh yeah, and finish the AZT! 9 passages to go.
Now, how about you?

I'll spend more time in the outdoors (hiking/4-wheeling/mountain biking) and much less time on the computer, which also means less time on HAZ... don't tell Joe.
Oh yeah, some of that out-of-the-house time will probably be working a few days a week to help pay for the gas to get to more remote hiking destinations. :-({|=

We did 8 hikes together this year. Hopefully we'll do more than that in 2013.

I just now discovered this quote from Joe of last year and no I am not blind yet, however I did purchase for my wife's computer a larger flat panel display so I can see the Pixel Triva pictures better and find those hidden clues that some pictures contain.
In a week or two my Arizona family along with my wife and I are moving into a larger home in Larado Ranch in San Tan Valley. Yesterday we visited the home with the Home Inspector and discovered that there is a major drainage problem and that the house needs to be lifted at least two feet or the front and back yard need to be lowered the same to avoid flooding in case we have one of those 100 year rains that seem to actually come at least once every ten years. Having surveying experience in the past I expect to be busy before the winters rains inundate the first floor of the home by lowering the back yard and digging in a dry well or two and a pit to place the grandsons trampoline in. Therefore my PXT time will be much more limited. Who knows maybe I can find a gold mine in my new backyard instead of on HAZ Pixel Trivia and Alston can actually catch up to me before years end.

I'm hoping for an incredible wildflower season locally
All the hikes most consider drab turn phenomenal. Being easily accessible they motivate people. Whereas some detest others I enjoy people. I believe hiking is an essential part of our freedom to enjoy life. While our styles differ everyone deserves the right to enjoy being an explorer.
Ditto the wish for the Tortoise.
You know, incredible wildflower season means "tibbermode", even for you.
And I too, while enjoying the solitude of fewer people on the trails, am glad to see the folks out in the fresh air and especially out hiking.
To me every hike is a reward and a goal achieved, my HAZolution is to keep at hiking. I've even added a hike/backpack to my wishlist that wasn't something I really wanted to do but now that I have a few more hikes and backpacks under my belt... Yep, I want to do Havasu Canyon. I've got to see the blue water!
My other wish/goal for 2012 is the Ridgeline and Barnhardt Trail.
Last, is a backpack with Sirena and Wendy to the Spine and Patio (Sirena doesn't know yet ;) ).
Of course, I would like to see some new areas too including the Sierra Ancha and I would love to get back in the Canyon again.
This summer, I hope to make the 14 mile hike and 3000 ft elevation gain by 6PM dinner bell at Sperry Chalet in Glacier Park.
Well let's review:
Denny and the AZT completion: CHECK
Great wildflower season: not in AZ desert but in Preston Park at Glacier Park - CHECK
HAZolution to keep at hiking: CHECK
Havasu Canyon: still hoping
Ridgeline: CHECK
Barnhardt: still hoping
Spine Patio: still hopoing
Sierra Ancha: still hoping
Canyon again: CHECK but only the northside this time. However, a bonus trip this year was my first trip to Zion that included a backpack
Sperry Chalet dinner bell: CHECK at 6:05PM
2013 my every year HAZolution is to keep at hiking .
-I'm still hoping for the Barnhardt of course as well as any of the others.
-My brother said he would love to go to Havasu as well so that makes it doubly important.
-I'm keeping my fingers crossed Ambika will get that permit for Yosemite (I've never been).
-Wendy and I are in discussions about an AK backpack in August.
-I hear I should go to Reavis Ranch.
-Of course, I would like to give the Grand Canyon another try.
-And I would love to do another December trip to Aravaipa from the east.
Most of all I hope we all stay healthy and can keep on hiking and enjoying our common like even more than ever. HAPPY NEW YEAR! and may the results of "tibbermode" continue to grace the pages of

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination. Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

Keep an eye out for a Supai 3.0 event from GOYAAH here on HAZ and as for Reavis...November was a nice time to visit, just remember that Wilderness group limit of 15 persons... :A1:
