2013 Hazolutions

Post by Tortoise_Hiker »

Hello my fellow Hazers,
Here we are again.Someone once told me that as you get older the years go faster. It sure feels like it.This year sure seems to have went way to fast. How about sharing some of your New Year Hazolutions and let us know how you did.
Well I (with a lot of help) did finish the AZT.Thanks to everyone that helped. What an awesome time it was! I did get to hike with a few more Hazers this year too. Thanks I hope many more in 2013.I will have to give it a little more thought for 2013.For now I would just say lots more safe and fun hiking with lots more Hazers.I hope you all have a great safe, healthy, fun year. One more thing.Let us find GPS Joe.God Bless!

I tried that once and never received an answer.

That would be one of my "NOT" goals for 2013....I would like to try to get 10 more years out of them, although my Ortho laughed at me when I mentioned that... :(

Hazbot will only reply if you speak it's language. Try:

While I agree with the notion of not making resolutions, I would like to increase my totals in both mileage and elevation next year after a great 2012. I would be content with a 25% increase. But ultimately I am more interested in the adventures than in the numerical totals.

I have only one resolution for this next year. It's not Hiking related, stat related or Outdoor related. I can get out and Hike and enjoy the Outdoors to help me ease the pain of everyday life. My father, however, has not been able to do that in a very long time... Yesterday at 3:00 P.M., my father fell and broke his Femur. He is scheduled for emergency surgery this afternoon. He is already in Hospice for Congestive Heart Failure, they are only fixing the leg for comfort reasons. Third surgery on this leg in 4 years, first the Hip, then the Femur further up, now this.

So, this year it is my sole goal to help and pray that this last year for my dad is somehow peaceful and painfree. Everything else is just a bonus... ;)

I feel for you Pam, I'm kind of in the same boat with my father. No broken bones but LOTS of cancer and heart problems. My mom and I have him at a physical rehab home (I hate the word "nursing home") to hopefully get him able to come home for care and treatment after over a month in bed at John C. Lincoln hospital that started the day after Thanksgiving. This is why I've been such a lurker lately. I hope you are able to make your father as happy and comfortable as possible. I'm giving it my best shot with my dad. I'm sorry I couldn't even think of joining the Vulture Peak trip. My uncle used to own several acres directly across the Hassayampa River and I spent a lot of time in those hills and washes as a teen.

Best wishes and a bonus or two,
Michael

I should do this: Finish writing and recording a heavy metal album, been on my mind lately. It was in the works and put it on hold for a long time, pretty much all of 2012 for different reasons. Lots all already done and featured in a couple of zombie films in Atlanta a while back. Need to complete it, but so much work for 1 person.

I am coming up with resolutions day by day. I won't bore you with all of them. Write more, hike and bike more, get fitter, blah blah blah.

But there were a couple of you who mentioned hiking the Tonto/Gems. Maybe if I had a permit, I could get a friend of mine to 4-wheel me out to the S. Bass trailhead. I need only walk east from there, because I have already hiked the S. Bass--Elves Chasm section. I also have not hiked the section from Grandview to SK. I might actually do that one on my own over spring break, if I can get the permit. Over the past 15 months I was able to complete Beamer Trail, Escalante Route, and S. Bass--Elves.

You don't need a permit for this section. It's a simple dayhike: http://hikearizona.com/triplog=67391

Haha very funny! I actually like to backpack. I like hanging out in the Canyon. I don't even care if I don't move camp for a couple of nights.
