Sawtooth Ridge - Spencer Loop

Super B! and I are doing this loop as our new annual[1][2] post Christmas hike. It's ONLY 10.5 miles. If you want to make one of the worst trails in the Superstitions into an even tougher loop jump in!

Shooting for a reasonable 6:30am meetup time in the east valley. Full details PM'd to committed and capable!

Fair Warning: portions of this hike are extremely unpleasant catclaw bushwhacking from what I understand

I see what you did there..You are the one finishing up at Roger's Trough on the 26th you can easily slide right into that hike

We have some cliffs to explore in and around Angel Basin. Otherwise I'd probably be there wondering what I was thinking when I signed up.

I was up Hewett Canyon Rd today (FR172) to as far as the intersection with FR172A. FR172 is really bumpy and kind of slow going but was not muddy or wet. Not sure what FR172A up to the intersection with FR650 has in store for you guys for 12/26, but I do believe (but not certain) that from 172A/FR650 up FR650 to where I assume your starting 12/26 TH will be (close to the Spencer Spring TR at FR650?), will most likely require a high clearance vehicle with required 4WD.
