Did anyone watch the History Channel about the Dutchman last night, and where do you think they were? ;)

Seriously, though: I have one of those Verizon hotspots so I never live stream anything--it will use up all my gigabytes. This RV park's internet is pathetic, so that's also out of the question.

cache = kash
caché = kash-ay
from the french verb cacher (to hide)

one who pronounces it kash-ay must also pronounce Charlebois as shar-leh-bwah as opposed to Charley boy.

Not since they repainted 'em. The medicine wheel looked like it was made recently. The one on BCB probably wasn't defined enough for the big screen. The show is jumping all around the wilderness from Queen Creek, then NW to Goldfield, now over by FR80. They did include a mini clip of video zooming in past the praying hands looking SE to Old West Boulder/ O Grady.

Just watched it ... if you were those guys, isn't the "black hand print" area exactly the sort of place you would want to examine carefully?

I believe the term is Jumping the Shark, although at this point it's Flogging the Dolphin. ;)

The paint for the hand print should be organic, not a felt pen.
The arrowhead was not from that area, more than likely E-Bay.
The Sticking Tommy was a nice acquisition from an AJ antique store.
The medicine wheel is done by Northern Plains Natives, not Apaches or other Natives of this area. This one was done by a New Ager woo woo doing Ear Coning or some Rectal Harmonic Balance.

Any guesses as to which canyon they may be in at about the 17 minute mark on the latest episode?

The very short shot of the group climbing or standing with the canyon in the background was taken from the Fish Creek Bridge area and not obviously from the Wilderness. They show this same basic scene in some of the advertising footage as well.

If they follow their overlaid Peralta/Gonzales map, a line from Weavers Needle to Four Peaks crosses the Salt River at Fish Creek... so if they were to follow it upstream to the major fork (according to Frank), hopefully by the last episode they will find the mine somewhere up Fish Creek. Or not.

Which would put the treasure somewhere near Millers diggings and grave. Do you suppose that Miller had the same map that Wayne now claims to be a new map on the scene for the hunt for the Lost Dutchman Mine?

No, that could not be could it? :sl:

Maybe the fellow with the metal detector will now find this http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=77485 and report it as a new clue to the treasures location. ;)

Pretty sure I've seen that "new" map before in a book! Can't say which one right now, as all my books are in the storage unit ...

I'm sure the maps they are using have been around for a LONG time...
Besides, I heard intro blurbs for the show stating: a new interpretation of old maps.

Ok, they're doing a Friday night marathon of this show and I saw it for the first time tonight. typical reality show that seems worse if you have any familiarity with the area, history, etc. I do tend to think it's kind of irresponsible to show people supposed spending a few overnighters in that area with inadequate supplies, especially considering that the latest deaths of some treasure hunters was only a couple+ years ago. If this show were to get really popular, I could see more nutjobs getting themselves in trouble out there.

Also, Joe, I think we hiked with that one guy before, you even have him labeled in this picture as Sarge. If you zoom in on the original, you can see his cigar.
