Hello all, I’m planning to hike Reavis ranch trail next month. Does anyone know what the water availability is like currently? I carry a pretty aggressive purification set up so I’m not overly picky on the source if it comes to it.
Thankyou

Re: Reavis Ranch Trail - Water
Reavis Ranch has reliable water sources: On the south side, there is a creek that flows over the trail near the intersection with fireline. On the north side there is water a bit south of where the gap trail comes into the ranch.

@BRichard
Thankyou. I prefilter into a stainless container which In cold months can quickly heat to room temp to aid the use of chemicals or my steripen.
That’s actually my back up though, as I try to prefilter as stated then use my Katadyn Vario three stage and if the source seemed sketchy add three drops of bleach or Iodine after. I carry a small bottle of each. If all else fails, the stainless allows me to just boil
I know it’s major overkill for North America but it’s really nice to have back up methods as I’ve experienced both gear failures and a very bad stomach parasite.

@Shinesparker
HAZ already marks water sources on the map right here on the site. If you click on the water droplet icon you will be given the opportunity to read the reports as provided by other users. If there's nothing recent that gives you confidence about the current conditions, it helps to read reports from previous years at about the same time you are planning your trip. Just click "Find-->Water" in the menu on the map.

And please pay it forward by contributing your own water reports to help others who might be seeking the same kind of info as you are! Any question how, post here or send me a PM.
