Blue Range KP Trailhead Access

Post by strikers »

Planning a trip to the Blue Range Primitive Area this weekend. Hopefully a shortened KP-Grant Creek loop. I see closure orders for some of the area forest roads on the forest service website due to post-Wallow flooding, but the order specifies that the roads themselves will be marked -- something I cannot see from Phoenix! Cannot get an answer from the Alpine ranger station as to whether or not the KP rim trailhead is open and accessible right now. I believe it would be considering it is so close to 191, but not willing to bet a 5+ hour drive from Phoenix on that assumption! Is anyone in the area able to verify for me whether this area is open? Any additional info regarding trail conditions or water situation on the loop would be a bonus if anyone has been around there recently. Thanks! :)

Call Alpine RD again, ask to speak to Myron Burnett. He does trail maintenance.

Thanks, I actually left a message for him on Monday. He has been really helpful when I have spoken with him previously. I was just afraid he wouldn't get back to me since he is such a busy person and I am worried about finalizing this trip. Sorry, I should have mentioned that.
