Common Names: Yellowjackets, hornets.
Habitat:
Description:
Comments: A wasp is any insect of the order Hymenoptera and suborder Apocrita that is not a bee or an ant. Most familiar wasps belong to the Aculeata, a division of the Apocrita, whose ovipositors are modified into a venomous stinger. We normally think of the Vespids when we think of wasps. The Vespidae family is a large (nearly 5000 species), diverse, cosmopolitan family of wasps, including nearly all the known eusocial wasps and many solitary wasps. Each social wasp colony includes a queen and a number of female workers with varying degrees of sterility relative to the queen. Source: Wikipedia
