I saw this when I was walking the Camino in Spain but they called it Passion Fruit. Here, it's Lilikoi... and I drank a little of that in various drink concoctions.
Passiflora edulis, commonly known as passion fruit or liliko'i in Hawai'i, grows on the Big Island. It thrives in a variety of habitats, particularly in lower to mid-elevation, mesic (moderately wet) forests and shrublands. The purple passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) is often cultivated and found naturalized in lower forest regions at elevations of 400 to 3,000 feet.
Liliko'i in Hawaii:
In Hawaii, passion fruit is known as liliko'i, and it comes in both purple and yellow varieties.
Naturalization:
The plant has naturalized in Hawaii's climate, meaning it can be found wild on all the islands, including the Big Island.
