We made it to Battle Axe Wash barrier gate by sunset. This is where the Jeep track comes down from Battle Axe Butte to cross the shallow ford at the Gila River. (Located on the "Official AZT Maps" as Mile 274.8 from Mexico). The map is slightly incorrect where it places a blue dot nearby a ATV Barrier, this barrier is located in the next wash WEST of the one on the map.

Follow the Jeep tracks south towards the river for a nice tenting spot on the north side just before the river. The exact same spot where we staged our truck earlier in the day!
