heading toward Scipio Pass through this big wide valley. The Valley Mountains are to my left (east). It is astonishing that there is this 324 page report on the Geology of Millard County. The 2003 bulletin is the product of over a half century of personal geologic studies in Millard County and contributions from numerous other researchers. : https://ugspub.nr.utah.gov/publications ... /B-133.pdf (rather technical, extremely thorough I'd say).

Scipio Valley is unique in not being drained by surface streams. Ground water apparently migrates through both the Scipio Valley alluvial fans and the bedrock of the Low Hills into Little Valley to the north, probably utilizing a system of northeast-trending fractures that show locally on the valley floor as elongate sinkholes. The town of Scipio (where I stayed last nite) is in a graben in the middle of the valley.
