Now to the sand caves I went to; which were not the ones I meant to go to https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/sand-caves--2 but it wasn't alltrails fault as I was just going by hearsay as to where they were. You actually park in the lot next to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, about a mile before Moqui Cave on Highway 89 going north. I, on the other hand, thot it was on the other side (west) of 89 so walked up there to what looks to be Kanab Wells and Sand Caves Rd.
I was very happy with my find, even though it wasn't the right place. I did encounter a family walking back from the caves but I also saw an old "no trespassing" sign too... assuming it was just that and not in effect. Anyway, I did film the hike over here and around the very cool caves and walk back [ youtube video ]
Here is where I should have been https://utahhikingbeauty.com/kanab-sand-caves/
https://www.utahsadventurefamily.com/mo ... and-caves/ which also looks pretty cool. The trail is signed at the north end of the parking lot next to Best Friends turn off. FYI: . Getting up to the caves is easier the farther left you go (as you're approaching the caves). The few windows into the cave capture the evening sun very well and provide an overlook of the highway.
