The Hulsey family and friends planted
a great number of trees and shrubs exotic to the area. The cottonwoods, eucalyptus, and pomegranates make Winona a favorite area for wildlife.

I thot it was interesting in the top photo that the palm tree has been shaved.
LL is the Eucalyptus, the only eucalyptus you will see in Joshua Tree NP
LR is a Cottonwood, there were several giant cottonwoods here.
