| partners | | On our second hike of the day, Page Rob and I drove from Sipe over to Wenima. I am surprised to see I had not created this as a regular hike. I will have to do that. We saw a little of the famous Hooper Ranch Pueblo, excavated in the 1950's by the University of Chicago. It is fenced off and you can't see much.
Then after admiring the Little Colorado River, which flows through here strongly enough to take a creek kayak down it, we made our way over to one of the bluffs framing this valley which has some petroglyphs on it. We had a little drizzle and sat under a ledge at one point, just enjoying the view of the valley. It was a perfect day in monsoon--not too much rain, nice and warm, and very, very green!
Again, Rob's photos, when he posts them, are going to be more spectacular than mine, I am sure. Please watch for them in a couple of days. |
