| no partners | | I tried to get into West Clear Creek by the directions posted for this hike. I broke a transmission mount on a gnarly drop off. I backed out that day to keep from doing more damage to the jeep. I went back 3 weeks later with friends and the know how of someone that had been there a couple times before. We went in that day by using FR 144 and eventually made it over to FR142. It was a lot of dirt road and plenty of high rocks to take out an oil or transmission pan. After making it to the end of the road we found the drop in to the canyon. It is steep and with some loose spots on the way down, be careful. In the bottom of the canyon follow the creek down stream. The rocks are very slippery through out this canyon so watch your footing. I believe it was 11 or 12 pools we actually had to swim through to get to the garden. In the end it was a great day of swimming and just beautiful scenery. This will be on my list of hikes I will do over and over again. AWESOME... |
