This past weekend I was camping at the Pivot Rock Campground. Hiked up to Wildcat Spring during the night. I found the spring was running but the concrete retention box was not holding the water. Early the next morning I hiked down Pivot Rock Canyon. Went up the side canyon where Pivot Rock and Pivot Rock Spring is located. I kept an eye out for an old rusted up engine block that I had found sitting in the stream bed back in 1994. I never found it although the remains of an old truck from the 1920's or 30's is still there rusting. I also found the remains of some animal just a short distance from Pivot Rock Spring. After checking out Pivot Rock Spring, I hiked back to Pivot Rock Canyon and went further downstream. I almost made it to FR149 but decided to return back before getting that far. I noticed there are a lot of trees that have fallen down from Bark Beetle infestation making the two hikes a bit more interesting. Someone was shooting guns somewhere in the area, but I never encountered them.
Not really sure how much water in gallons per minute was coming out of this spring. If anyone is looking to get water from this Spring you will need a Brita filter or similar filter in addition to a biological filter as the water has a chalky taste.
