It starts off by skirting the cool Lake Josephine & Grinnell Lake & thru the marshy valley bottom before slowly climbing up that Cataract Creek canyon towards that amazingly sweet Morning Eagle Falls. On the way up, we encountered a large female moose that startled us pretty good and had us scrambling off the trail & waiting for it to pass by before proceeding on. Once we got to the falls, that trail just climbs and climbs and climbs up to the pass but the view back downcanyon were spectacular... Marmots everywhere as we neared the pass and the views on the otherside from the pass were even more breathtaking as we could see the many peaks to the south along the Lewis & Clark Range including Jackson & Blackfoot Glaciers. Our legs were getting rather sore at this point as we made the final few miles down to Siyeh Bend where we took the shuttle back up to Logans Pass. Woo, what an amazing 3-day ~45 mile loop, but boy did we need a day off to recover... |
