| no partners | | | On my way to Winter Cabin I came upon the area that had been hit by the tornado. The pictures do NOT represent the destruction. I'm estimating at least 20 acres on both sides of the road that the trees were broken off 10-15 feet above the ground, and lots of blowdowns on the edges of the area. In fact, 2 other places on FR 538 had signficant blowdowns, too. This areas was busy with hunters that week, and many were trapped out there. They were contacted by helicopter, then heavy equipment went out the next day to clear the roads. It took some mighty big chainsaws to cut through the maze of ponderosas. The locals are out there now gathering firewood. |
