It was a kind of drizzly day with Sedona summits in the clouds, so we opted for this hike up the canyon. The objective was more exploratory rather than mileage and this area does not disappoint in that regard. We scouted around for Indian ruins and found the first one near the end of the Enchantment Resort boundary. There is an obvious herd path leading up to the ruins that can be partially seen from the main trail below. An easy-ish 15 minute scramble takes you up there with only moderate difficulty. This ruin is heavily visited and there is a warning sign just before it. Please respect the archeological site and don't disrupt anything. Take only pictures!

Farther up the canyon there are more ruins but many of them are not so obvious from below. This hit-or-miss challenge of finding them is half the fun, as is the more difficult scrambling across loose shale surfaces and fighting your way through brush and cactus spines. I did make my way up to a couple more sites before calling it a day.
