Words cannot describe how amazing it was. Thanks to my co-worker and neighbor, Blaine Hubbard, for leading the way. Our original plan was to go up on the peaks but by 7:15 AM a dark cloud was already hanging over the mountain. We headed down to Sedona instead. Blaine suggested Boynton Canyon and I had never been there so there we went. It was already hot at 9:20 when we reached the trailhead. Going in the resort doesn't detract much from the natural beauty, just coming out. The best part was definitely the side excursion up the side canyon. We took a breather underneath "the wave" and continued heading up. Blaine wanted to go to what he referred to as "mushroom rock" but he didn't bring enough water and the temperature must have been approaching 100 degrees. The side canyon definitely rates an "IT ROCKS!" I'll go back and see the back of the canyon before I rate this hike though. |
