My first time in the Tonto and I HIGHLY recommend LONG PANTS for all the noobs (see photo).
LOL @ Chris---talking about John and I getting off trail a few times...he failed to mention how helpful it was for us to be SO FAR AHEAD OF HIM during the hike.
Ruins were interesting as we discussed war and water strategies for the Indians.
2 good bros and a fun, beautiful (and safe) day hike; couldn't ask for more. Weather was simply spectacular. Would have enjoyed a bit more adventurous loop back to the vehicles, but Chris made the right decision.
Rustled up a couple of coveys of quail and saw two garter snakes near the parking lot as we returned; have yet to see my first javelina. |
