I decided on one of my favorites, Grant Hill loop and chose to hike it counter clockwise for the first time. First half of the trail was pretty much all in the shade and I found myself wishing I had brought my gloves & beanie as it got very cold! I quickly made my way up and around to the other side of the hill and spent a good 1/2 hour at one of the overlooks just trying to get warm again in the sun. I could not believe how cold it has got up here, just 2 weeks ago I was hiking here in a T and shorts. After warming up I continued on to the big overlook and then back down the old road to my truck. I really was not prepaired for the cold temps on this hike and spent half of it shivering but all in all it was another nice stroll through the forest to end the season on top of the Pinalenos! |
