| partners | | This might just be the best hike in the Tucson area! We were treated to views of Finger Rock, Finger Rock Guard, Mt Kimball, Baboquivari, Kitt, Wasson, Safford, Panther, Mica, Rincon, Mt Lemmon, Window, Cathedral, Samaniego, Thimble, Blacketts, and many more!
We took the entire Pontatoc Canyon trail. Continued past the "End of Trail" sign up a ridge to a great view of the Window. From there we hiked, crawled, and scrambled up the ridge to Little Kimball. We were only only people in 2010 to do the peak according to the peak register! From there we got to Kimball Saddle where we joined up with the Finger Rock trail. From there we continued on the Finger Rock trail to Ventana Canyon. We went down Ventana Canyon to finish the hike.
Note that 3 miles of this route were off trail bushwacking. Don't try to do this hike unless you are really good at route finding. Even the section of trail from Kimball Saddle to the Junction with the Ventana Canyon trail can be hard to follow. |
