| partners | | We met at Liz's at 5am. No one claimed the front seat, so I jumped up front and was in the lap of luxury. The Rave started and we were off. The rides to and from hikes can be very enjoyable this was no exception. On a side note, I'm not sure why Joe makes fun of most people's driving. I'd much rather have Liz drive then him . Nick was bored waiting for us and entertained me with his text messages. He had arrived early.
The hike starts on a paved road and then we branched off on to Esperero. The climb up to Heart attack ridge wasn't too bad but knowing it was only a 1/3 of the days climb . We met a few ladies coming down off the saddle and told them Joe needed an ego boost and they obliged. I ate a pound of homemade chicken salad on the saddle and it was awesome. Too awesome to share. The next stop was Wedding Chapel falls which I climbed up to checkout while the others were hangin. A few more miles up we cached some water and then hit the church junction and headed up that trail. Once we hit the saddle it turned into a route and we were headed to Cathedral Rock.
The off trail wasn't bad at all. We were waiting a little while and I started lobbing snowballs but couldn't see who was coming. I hit Liz in the head I felt bad but she was a trooper.
Once we hit the sadlle a few of us climbed on one rock formation and then Dave and I headed over to the ropes. I free climbed it... the first move getting on the rock was the hardest for my short legs. The views from the top weren't much better then the other formation we were on.
We took a slightly different route down from the saddle and I broke off from the group and met them below the saddle. I was further to the right off them...It was funny at one point I could see their hats bobbing but that was it. Nick raced off down from there... after saying he was so slow on the downhill. The rest of the hike was just get to the THitis.
Thanks for inviting me Nick... it was good to see you again. Thanks for driving Liz. Dave was awesome with his Bartels zingers. Eagle always a pleasure. Joey...Joey...Joey thanks for being indomitable.
PS.. BTW Nick I would never fail to not include you in my partner listing. |
