Because Hank (Grasshopper) is handling the technical parts of this camping outing, I am submitting a set of photos that show the remoteness and the beauty of the Mazatzal Wilderness.
This camping/backpacking/hiking outing is scheduled for late April so Hank invited me along to assess the camping areas and clean them if necessary. It was a perfect day to be out in the mountains because the temps were expected to get unto the lower 90's in the valley. We had a slight breeze that rustled through the treetops, causing pinecones to drop around us, as well as a bright sun and endless blue skies.
We found four level, grassy areas suitable for setting up tents with sufficient areas for parking and outdoor hygiene. There is abundant firewood in the immediate area and views of the surrounding mountain ridges are what memories are made of.
I am preparing to leave the Valley area and head back to Minnesota within the next few days. But this outing has me excited enough to tell my wife that I want to stay here another month and she can fly back if she feels that she has to return right away. Well, that offer didn't get me much more than a nasty stare so I guess I won't be attending. But I will be following up on the trip from my home in Minnesota. |
