After working late, I got up to Flag around midnight Friday night. Had to drop some stuff off to an ex which was awkward, but it was over quickly. I stocked up at the awesome Mobile gas station beer stop, then headed off to Marshall Lake. Camped near the lake that night, woke up around 4 AM Saturday morning and caught an absolutely amazing sunrise.
After capturing the sunrise, I bought some snacks at the grocery store then headed to the trailhead for The Peaks climbing area. I spent 2-3 hours at the TH relaxing, napping and strumming on my guitar. Eventually Janelle and Arisia showed up and we hiked in.
We all warmed up on a 5.9 with a super fun layback move (Janelle led), then soon had to hunker down as it started raining. The raining turned to pouring, then hail. There were several of us crammed under a small alcove waiting for the freak weather to subside. When it seemed to slow down, we decided to high-tail outta there before it started up again.
Next stop was Lumberyard brewery with some others. A really spicy burrito (forgot what they call it) and a couple IPAs (one of them the black IPA) hit the spot. We all then made a spontaneous decision to climb at The Pit near Lake Mary.
After climbing at the Pit, I headed to Mormon Lake to meet up with some family while everyone else went their own ways. I spent Sunday exploring all my photo options in Flagstaff, then eventually ended up shooting an s-curve in upper Lake Mary for sunset before heading home after an awesome weekend. |
