My buddy Matt organized a group to get together the day after Christmas to summit the highest peak in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument (Ajo Peak - 33rd most prominent in AZ), and we couldn't have asked for better weather. As described in the description, it's challenging, yet incredibly scenic. If you're worried about safety that close to the border, the park appeared perfectly fine to me. Unfortunately we didn't see any wildlife, although, the organ pipe cactus are really neat and worth the trip down south to see them in abundance.
