For the cross-country part of the hike, instead of getting back on Hoolie Bacon to make the trek to Peter's trail at the wash as described in the hike description, we opted to go off trail from the corral using the route I built in route manager (I love that site feature/utility). The off trail portion wasn't bad at all as we took advantage of new and old game trails, and at the same time staying on course with the track I built and had loaded in the GPS. The views from the ridge that separates Hoolie Bacon and Peter's trail were breathtaking and my pictures really don't capture it the way I had hoped. The extra miles were the 6 miles in/out on FR. This was a FANTASTIC hike. |
