| no partners | | Drove up to Prescott with my son Justin who has been aching to get in on a kayak trip. Put in at the boat ramp around 9:30am and cruised around the lake. There were about 12-15 other kayakers on the water, a few canoes, a half dozen sailboat, a couple rafts, climbers, and shoreside fishermen at the lake. Also noticed a mountain biker and a few others enjoying a peaceful day at the lake.
The skies were blue, with a cloud of smoke hanging out to the south from the Gladiator fire in the Crown King area. The water was mostly calm with slight breezes causing a few ripples from time to time. We came across a bald eagle sitting high atop the rock monuments surrounding the lake. Plenty of waterfowl in the area as well.
We took a lunch break on one of the many stone islands then continued on our tour of the lake. After about 3.5 hours I decided it was time to start heading back towards the boat launch. We loaded out the boats and headed home. |
