| no partners | | | We decided kind of last minute to drive to Page for the annular eclipse. Partly because the weather would dictate how where we would go. So we drove the 4 and 1/2 hours on the morning of the eclipse knowing that there were going to be lots of people there. I remembered a spot I thought we would have a good horizon for the eclipse, well not knowing that was where the park service was having their public viewing session. We left the house at 5am and drove to Page arriving at the site at 1030. Then talked to the park rangers and found a place to set up for the eclipse. Then we just hung around taking pictures talking to people and enjoying the view. About 2pm they closed the parking lot since it was full now. They were going to shuttle people up from the Dam visitor center. About 530 everyone looking through cameras, glasses, and scopes when first contact was made and shouts went across the field of first contact and cheers... And all were quiet as cameras clicked. Then when the moon was inside the circle of the sun another cheer went on as well as when it was totally centered in the middle of the sun. After the moon left the middle of the sun and on its way out lots of people started leaving .. we waited till after the sun had set before we tore down. Then back to the house after a stop in town.. arrived home at 1230 on Monday morning... was well worth the long day!!
