| partners | | What would Outlander do? That was the question of the day and it was pretty much answered as well. Great hike with Kyle the Heartless aka tough_boots. Future plans are already being hatched for further adventures in this area.
For the detail Kyle's triplog pretty much covers it. Plus he is faster at posting than I am. He is single and doesn't have a newborn in the house. (Selling points for single hiking ladies I'm sure. )
Anyway, I knew this would be a long hike and it did not disappoint. The scenery and canyons were even more than I anticipated. The hiking partner(s) were great although we both had mixed feelings about the four legged ones. I'm pretty sure Kyle the Heartless made one of them cry at one point.
The ruins were not the ones I thought they might be, but keeps me searching. Cherry creek was flowing well and the temps were not bad although it got a little warm as the day continued. I was thankful for a pretty good breeze.
The views of the major Sierra Ancha canyons were great as well as the canyons themselves. I'm in between functioning cameras and so my pictures don't really do the trip justice.
I was smart enough this time to let my wife know that this was going to be a long hike and to not expect us. We developed a code on the spot for letting her know whether we were coming home or staying overnight so she would not stay up waiting.
I'm pretty sure that kyle cursed and cried like a girl more than me on this hike and since I read somewhere that's why he likes hiking with me, I'm going to put it in writing that that is why I like hiking with him. I did smack my toes pretty good just to make sure he would continue to join me for hikes, since he is usually the only one I can find for hikes of this type.
Our AEG differed because he said "Look Joel are those ruins?" early on the hike and I of course fell for it and had to scramble up to investigate. I only fell for this one time today.
Also, when you are tired to the point of exhaustion walking down a dark road looking for the reflectors of your truck wishing nothing more than the hike to be done. Cow eyes peering from the side of the road can look an awful lot like your truck. Shame on you Cow. |
