The camp is briefly described in Hikers Guide to the Superstition Wilderness on page 61. The camp was situated on a knoll just north of Bluff Spring Canyon. There were six cabins to accommodate 12 miners. We found some old camp trash including a top to a tin of cocoa, labeled Walter Bakers Breakfast Cocoa. I found a tin with a similar top from the 30's on eBay. We found broken bits of glass including the base of an old one quart bottle. The glass was very thick and irregular; definitely not modern. We also found an old tin can. The camp site has a great view of Weaver's Needle. Williams Camp is marked on the USGS maps just north of Bluff Spring Trail south of Bluff Spring Mountain. The camp is located at N33.4245 W111.34709. |
