John and I started from Marshall Lake just before 9 AM. It seems to take forever to set up the AZT shuttles. I left home at 4:10. The trail and hike are very pleasant, meandering through pine trees on a smooth trail. Once you pass Walnut Canyon and near I-40 the scenery isn't nearly as nice but still an OK hike. After starting passage #32 we went by a handful of homeless camps sporting plenty of garbage. Next we through a huge meadow full of cattle including a not so modest bull. Then we started the long gradual ascent to Shultz Pass. Once we got up to 7000 ft I was feeling the altitude and slowed down quite a bit. John had to wait for me a few times. After a bit of confusion over the last bit of route to the car we finally finished the hike. John ordered some pizza, we filled up on gas, and headed out to drop off his Jeep at the end of the next passage which is 35 miles past the turnoff to Snow Bowl. When we got back to Flag it was time for a quick shower, a little sleep, and off to the next adventure. John hiking passage #34 and I decided to hike the Sunset trail to Mount Elden. An epic weekend. Nice to get home. Thanks for the company John
