We made good time on the uphill parts of the hike. Joe was in Tibber mode until he decided to take us up the second ascent (Icehouse)in record time. Dave stayed a step behind Joe without breaking a sweat, while I was huffing and puffing to keep up. The steeper the trail got the faster Joe went, kind of running at times. Felt good to get the uphill out of the way and head back down Kellner Canyon. Highlight of the trip for me was seeing a bunch of Coatis. We watched a baby go tree to tree above us like a squirrel. We also saw a dozen or so whitetailed deer during the day. No tortoise sighting though . We stopped at Guayos on the way home for dinner. Good times. |
