| partners | | | Met Jason in Payson, had Subway in Show Low for dinner, then drove up together to the West Fork trailhead on Friday evening. We started hiking just before sunset, with our 2 way radio on, trying to track down John, who had hiked in the day before. Sometime after dark, we saw a campfire in the trees at the 9800 foot level, and found him at his campsite. On Saturday morning, we enjoyed the monsoon free weather in the meadow, then hiked further up trail to the white man's summit of Mount Baldy. Even without a pack, it was a chalenging hike. On the east side of the summit, we had a snowball war in a huge snowdrift. Back at camp that night, I created "Preston's Semi-Awesome Ramen" with creamy chicken ramen, canned chicken, and crackers. The next morning, we hiked out and headed home. This was a great weekend with friends in one of the most beautiful places in all of Arizona. |
