Drove up and down oak creek a bit, bought a shirt, took some shots of slide rock, and decided to find a campsite. Manzanita was full, but Bootlegger had some spots left, and besides there's this cool trail on the other side of the creek.
Set out around 5pm after parking the car and gearing up. Quite a nice little climb, especially after haking most of the day already. Great views the whole way up and a few good lookouts up on the rim. Saw the fire that was buring over in the Jacks Canyon area. Hiked to the old fire lookout and talked to the Forrest Service lady about the fire. The canyon below was sweet with the sun setting and the shadows creeping up the opposite wall. Great way to end the day. |
