| partners | | Joe picked this one and being the creator of the HAZ Route Manager, provided me with a Detailed 20 point track. I made some "Minor" adjustments, and the hike was on.
The plan was a CCW loop going up to Nonesuch Rocks, Gunsight Gap, Little Campaign Creek, and return on/in Pinto Creek.
From the get go, we could see that catclaw and boulder hopping might slow this one down a bit.
Sweet views up on top of Nonesuch Rocks, we dropped off the Southwest side towards Gunsight Gap. Steep and loose, but not all that bad. The going had been real slow to this point taking 7 hours to get 7 miles around the Gunsight Gap area, and not even to 1/2 the halfway point.
Once in Little Campaign Creek (Dry), we were able to make up some time. Smooth, slightly down hill, and clear (For the most part). Saw some old Quad tracks, and still don't have a clue how they got in or out of there. Also saw a Black Tailed Rattler in the open, that I could have stepped on because I was enjoying not having to look at my feet.
Little Campaign was dry for the most part. There was one area, maybe a quarter mile long, that had a decent flow before it went below ground.
Pinto Creek on the other hand, was flowing well. There was no use trying to keep our shoes dry, we still had 7 miles to go, mostly in and sometimes out of the creek. What a pretty area. Once we got about 17 miles in, it turned into a box canyon, with the walls closing in.
At this point is was dark and we needed our headlamps to check the depth of the water.
Need to come back to this portion, I was too tired to appreciate the beauty.
