| partners | | This hike is in my top 5 in Arizona.
Day started off with a bang, seeing 3 Elk while driving in to the Trailhead. I did not expect that.
I don't do a lot of hikes twice and out and backs, only when that's the only way.
This is my third trip to Visit the Twins
For me timing is the key. It is a beautiful area without water, but with....BAM!
I'd been trying to get out here for 4 straight weekends, but storm after storm rolled through.
Finally last weekend another snow event up there, but this weeks record warm temps turned the white, to wet.
Hawaiian Mist and Big Kahuna Falls were flowing well on the Barnhardt on the way up. So were all the other drainage's coming off the Mazy Peak side with still a bit of snow up top.
We made our way over to the Drainage we dropped into to continue to the bottom of Deadman/Sandy Saddle Falls. I'd forgotten how nice this area is also. We reached the lower falls and JJ and LP made an attempt to get higher into the 100'er.
We ate some lunch, JJ explored to the North and up, we'd meet up w/ him later.
We exited the lower falls area, up the slot, and then followed the eastern rim around to Sandy. Something I wanted to do on this trip. We spent quite a bit of time visiting the twins. They were gracious hosts and were gushing. Love this Area.
As Arnold says... "I'll be Baack"
Video Compelation of all the falls for the hike (for those with little time, it's over 8 minutes.)
