This one has been on my radar since 2002. I threw out a 20 second sketch. Bruce modified it and it turned out to be an exhausting thrill. The entire loop is just a few miles east of the Superstition Wilderness.

We headed up Spring Creek. This dry creek has subtle hints of Devil's Canyon. Bruce was intrigued by Nonesuch Rocks. Which worked out well as we may have gotten into thickets further up Spring Creek. Nonesuch was a hike in itself. Killer views of Roosevelt Lake, the Sierra Ancha and a fun obstacle course. The fun part wore off halfway across, luckily the intriguing factor held strong. We lunched or perhaps passed out before heading down to Little Campaign Creek.

LCC has a lot of personalities: huge trees, dry, mini riparian box then dry, wide and open. Ranchers access Cedar Spring on quads via an old jeep road only seen on old topos.

Next up the heart of Pinto Creek. For reference it starts on the NW side of the Pinals, cars cross it on US60 east of Top of the World, Haunted Canyon trailhead is in it and it ends going through the town of Tonto Basin on the SE shore of Roosevelt Lake.

HOLLY crap, welcome to the jungle! What is it with water hikes this year? Apparently Aravaipa has a mean little cousin. Near LCC it was upwards of 3 feet deep and a jungle for a good mile or so. Further down it mellows out where most see it off FR242 south of Pinto Box. Then it drys out a mile before hitting SR188.
