| partners | | how do all good roadtrips start? yep, a fire tower (hutch mountain). followed by a section corner search. we arrived at our destination (kinnikinick lake), only to find that the campground there had closed. that turned out in our favor since the best spot evah was just over a mile away on the shores of the adjoining morton lake. we made camp, then took a one mile walk around morton lake. we napped a little, ate dinner, then southpawaz tried his luck at the catfish in both morton and kinnikinick lakes as the sun did its setting, and the nearly super moon did its rising.
after breakfast and breaking camp the next morning, we walked around the larger kinnikinick lake and took a look around the former campground. yep, they bladed the whole thing. on the way home, we took the scenic route (FSR 147) to get to baker butte and ran into a guy who had managed to get his truck stuck up the side of the road (don't ask - but there is an incriminating photo). we waited until a couple of jeeps took over and then we headed to baker butte lookout. shirley offered us blueberry muffins, which we gladly accepted. yum! what a great weekend! |
