exit on Horse Crossing trail and back along some forest roads.
I'd looked at this possibility in the past but never got around to trying it. Then I saw Joe and Bruce did a longer version and Don (evanshiker) had done the loop we did. It worked well and I wouldn't mind going for a slightly longer version but not this day. We got hailed on for about 15 minutes (pea to small marble sized - ouch!) and then 30+ minutes of heavy rain. It wasn't too bad but after the storm the group voted for the "easy way" back.
