| partners | | What better what to spend a Monday than inside a great Rim Country canyon during the official start of monsoon season!
Honestly thought lower Yeager was going to be a waterpark because the portion of it I completed a few miles upstream a couple weeks ago had flowing water and countless large perennial pools one could only dream of but instead the lower portion of YC was waterless but still very scenic and narrow.
Believe we both saw our first Mexican spotted owl and later Buford bumped a big bull elk in the bottom of Yeager that ran up a near vertical canyon wall within seconds, always humbling to see the power and grace of those beasts.
We returned to ECC, enjoyed the slip and slide and swam (leeches included) until the flirt of a thunderstorm rolled over which also brought in the smoke from the nearby Hart fire.
Great day of solitude in a place that I’ve kind of avoided for its popularity but certainly eager to explore more. |
