| no partners | | Spent a nice Saturday doing the Groom Creek Loop. Did it counter-clockwise and really enjoyed the couple miles of traverse along the ridge at the top.
This was a training hike for our upcoming backpacking trip to Supai. As it turns out, four of us went this day, and one was my friend John's girlfriend Betty. John wasn't able to go.
The hike was too much for Betty, who either got ridiculous blisters, twisted her ankle, or some combination of the two, but as a result had to skip out on the Supai trip a couple of weeks later.
I've never lived that down since John was going to propose to her under Havasu Falls, and instead had to ask her at Burger King in Mesa or something just about as romantic (compared to Havasu Falls anyway).
In the end it didn't really matter. They're divorced now anyway. Maybe it was an omen?
